Product Review Liberty Lotion High CBD Cream
Liberty Lotion High in CBD

I recently had the opportunity to try out a great new high-CBD topical cream called Liberty Lotion. It reportedly achieves transdermal absorption deep into dermal layers through a proprietary formula that ensures maximum CBD bio-availability.

I found Liberty Lotion to be a very quality high-CBD lotion. I tried Liberty Lotion for several weeks and found it helpful with my own joint inflammation, aches and pains. I have several fractures and disc bulge in my neck and back – from my time when I was injured as a sworn police officer.  I personally found Liberty Lotion quite effective in easing my neck and shoulder pain.

In addition to the lotion, Liberty Lotion also produces an excellent lip balm. I tried the high CBD lip balm after months of dry and chapped lips. I tried a dozen different lip balms, from Burt’s Bees to Dr. Bronner’s, to Chapstick and everything in between, but nothing seemed to help my winter worn chapped lips. That is, until I tried this simple little lip balm. Its high in CBD and the moisturizing effects can be felt almost immediately. Then the CBD goes to work.

Topical CBD has been reported by many to help reduce joint inflammation, pain and stiffness. In 2015, the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) performed a systematic review as to the evidence surrounding the efficacy of the cannabinoids in marijuana to treat a variety of health conditions.
What did they find?

JAMA finds evidence CBD helps Pain v2

In addition to treatment for chronic pain and muscle spasmsJAMA reported evidence to support the use of cannabinoids, such as CBD and THC, to help in the treatment of insomnia, nausea due to chemotherapy, weight-loss associated with HIV infection and possibly even as an aid to those suffering Tourette syndrome. While final consensus within the scientific community is still far off, there is plenty of evidence to suggest cannabidiol (CBD) can be helpful in a variety of ways AND with few (if any) side-effects.

Medical marijuana is legally available in more than 29 states and both doctors and patients consider it appropriate for conditions such as AIDS, anorexia, cancer, arthritis, chronic pain and spasticity, nausea, migraines, multiple sclerosis, seizures and more.

This is all terrific news, as more and more people consider marijuana and CBD oils, extracts, lotions and edibles to help with their aches and pains. Did you know that the CDC recently reported a 455% increase in marijuana use by Seniors? I’m not sure we can still call them early-adopters, but I definitely applaud the trend!

How about a High-CBD edible instead?
KIVA CBD THC chocolate Bar
KIVA CBD infused Chocolates

While an attractive indulgence, relying on edibles for your CBD, comes with a price. If you ingest CBD through the stomach, by eating say, a high-CBD Ginger Chocolate bar from Kiva Confections, your liver is going to remove approximately 90% of the CBD (through the hepatic first-pass effect) before it is ever made available to you in your blood. Wow, with over 90% processed by the liver, you only absorb 10% of the CBD you ingest.

First, let me clarify – I love chocolate and I really love Kiva Confections! But for many, consuming amazingly wonderful high CBD chocolates throughout the day is just not a practical way to medicate long-term. For regular CBD absorption throughout the day, transdermal makes more sense.

Partner with your Doctor to stay healthy and informed!

I see marijuana as a true harm reduction agent. Harm reduction against the over-prescribing of unnecessary medications AND for some, as a vehicle off opioids and other drugs used to deal with chronic pain.

Always consult with your doctor before starting or stopping medications. IT IS equally important to keep yourself informed and a meaningful part of the conversation about your own health.

Do your own research, and discuss the possible use of CBD and other cannabinoids (e.g. THC, THCV, CBN, etc.) with your physician. Keep your medical doctor in the loop, but stay informed and in charge of your own healthcare!

  1. Hello,
I am a college student working on a research paper regarding the health benefits of CBD Oil. I have to admit I am personally amazed at how much this compound can help with. I have found that most are still resistant to the idea of alternative therapies, most especially those in the medical communities. I found statistics that by using the CBD we can reduce dependence on opioids and other toxc medications such as ones used for epilepsy treatment.

I also found concerning facts regarding the regulation of CBD and becuase it is not regulated, a consumer might not be getting what they thought they were.

In your opinion, why are so many so opposed to this treatment? And do you think it should be made legal and regulated.

    Thank you, Tanjia

  2. Thanks for your comment Tanjia. I absolutely believe that CBD should be legal and regulated as a nutraceutical. There are many business reasons why industries resist marijuana/CBD legalization. The pharmaceutical industry will probably see a drop of 2% or more in prescriptions, once medical marijuana is national legalized. Stay tuned to this blog for an upcoming post on how the government could save whopping $3.8 billion annually, thru Medicaid savings resulting from legal medical marijuana and reduced prescription spending.
